You might have guessed that one of the biggest trends of the season is gingham. If you hadn’t already guessed that then where have you been? I think it’s about time you caught up on this gingham-filled post I did a while back.
So I’ve got the top, and I’ve also got the skirt (catch up on that gingham-fest here), and I thought it was time I introduced you to the dress (obvs from SheIn because where else?). What did I love most about this piece? Probably the colour – who doesn’t love a bit of orange for summer style? I knew from the pictures when I ordered the dress that it was going to be cute. Doesn’t it look like just the thing you could wear to a picnic? Although do be careful you don’t blend into the picnic blanket…
The frilled sleeves add a bit of extra pizzazz to a dress which otherwise has a very simple silhouette. I will admit that I was a bit worried this might look like a sack on me when it came. It’s sometimes difficult to get dresses that don’t drown me because I’m very small. SheIn are normally good for sizing in my case as the clothing is generally made quite small, but listen to your mama when she tells you to check the measurements. Luckily, this one works quite nicely as a slouchy, casual day dress.
Even though the dress itself is very simple, I didn’t feel the need to jazz it up too much with accessories. For me, the best summer days are when you aren’t hindered by too many uncomfortable fashion choices and unnecessary added accessories. A pair of sturdy loafers, a sun hat and a camera small enough to sling over your shoulder should be all you need.
I couldn’t find a lot of orange gingham dresses so I’ve linked a couple of other orange dresses I’m loving! SheIn is definitely your best bet if you like this look though – links at the bottom of the post!
