So maybe I’m kidding myself that it’s almost Spring. And maybe I’m kidding myself that I can rely on a simple skinny rib long sleeve top with a bunch of rainbow-bright stripes. Because let’s be honest, it’s still January, we’re still in England, and the sun still hasn’t made an appearance since 2017. I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of coats. Knitwear and coats. This obviously hasn’t stopped me from continuing to purchase more of said clothing, but hey, doesn’t mean I’m not wishing my basket was filled with t-shirts and flipflops instead. So yeah, I’m (hopelessly) trying to coax the spring season out of its sleepy hibernation with a few bright colours and less layers. But notice how these blog pics were shot indoors? Yeah, cos I don’t (yet) own a coat that looks uh-mazing with this top, and you’re joking me if you think I’m stepping foot out of the house with only one measly ~although very cute~ layer.
You know how sometimes you can put an outfit together that feels just right? All the pieces fit together like a fashion jigsaw puzzle, and not gonna lie, you’re feeling your look. Isn’t it just the thing to ruin your day (maybe even your week) when you then have to put on a coat over the top? I know, I know, first world probs and all that, but it’s a serious issue that needs addressing. And aside from the endless gloomy grey clouds that can never even squeeze out a drop of snow to inject a little excitement into the day, this is what I hate most about winter.
Luckily for me, teddy coats made themselves present in my life this winter. Without their extreme fluffy and cosiness, I don’t think I would have made it this long without complaining about how bored I am of winter. That’s right, teddy coats are just about the only things keeping my life interesting rn. And I’m not scared to admit that to the internet. (Cuz I know a lot of you will feel the same way as me, amiright?) But hands up who’s ready to start breaking out the colours and the lighter layers? *Insert girl with hand in the air emoji x10* And even though I’ve just said I could never step foot outside in ~just~ this long sleeve top, it’s pretty much the best place to start if you’re trying to kickstart summer.
You know what I love about these stripes? The colours aren’t your typical brights. They’ve got a darkness to them that makes this the perfect transitional piece. Let’s just say you’re not going to be blinding anyone who’s still trying to wake themselves up out of a deep January slump with these stripes. But you will be reminding them that sunshine, lollipops, and unicorns are on their way. And wouldn’t you love to be the person to do that?
