Who would’ve thought fashion of the nineties and noughties would have come back around to us so quickly? Crop tops, chokers, and double denim (yes I’m talking about you, Justin and Britney). All classics from back in the day, and the height of fashion once again as we waltz through 2018 (how is it february already?) It feels like only last week I was wearing some of these styles as a child, and then only yesterday that I cringed at the very thought of those monstrosities. Now here we are, rocking them once again for allll the cool girl vibes. These funky glasses are the glasses of my childhood. Pink, rectangular, rimless, and with diamanté studs adorning the edges? My eight year old self would’ve been all over these. I guess some things don’t change. And some things roll right back around before you can even blink an eyelid.
Nineties and noughties fashion plays such a huge role in the style choices of so many of us today. Take today’s look for example. Crop top? Tick. Crazy pink sunglasses? Tick. Mom jeans? Tick. And then to make sure I don’t resemble Paris or Keira from back in the day too much (I mean, that crop was just a bit too much Keira…google it) I added a good dollop of the present day into the look. Biker boots and teddy coats are so two-thousand-and-teens. Is that what we’re calling them?? I’m thinking it needs a catchier name, right?!
Even if some of your biggest faux pas were from the nineties and noughties, you can’t deny that they had some pretty great fashion. If nothing else, I think we can all say we’ve had Rachel off Friends style envy at one point or another. Mom jeans and cute tee? A Rachel classic and so on trend at the moment. In fact, I’m off to make a Rachel Green pinterest board right now. See ya!
